Split to Dubrovnik Itinerary

Day 1
Pucisca

Split to Pučišća

After meeting your Horizon Sail trip manager and fellow travellers, we set sail for the town of Pučišća, on the Island of Brač.

We cruise south down the Dalmatian coast while enjoying lunch with new friends, before anchoring in a beautiful bay for the first of many swims in the stunning Adriatic Sea.

In the late afternoon we dock at our port for the night, with plenty of time to explore. Set at the end of a beautiful, natural bay, Pučišća was once voted one of Europe’s Prettiest Towns! Pučišća also boasts some of the purest and whitest stone in Europe, and as well as being used for most of the local buildings, this famous stone was also used to build Diocletian’s Palace in Split, and the White House in Washington DC!

Tonight we get to know each other over an included onboard barbecue of local grilled meats and salads, and raise a toast as the sun sets on our first day together.

Inclusions :

  • Lunch
  • BBQ Dinner

Pučišća to Jelsa via Zlatni Rat

This morning we set sail around the coast of Brač, stopping to swim off the famous Zlatni Rat or ‘Golden Horn’. One of the most recognisable beaches on the Dalmatian Coastline, Zlatni Rat pokes out like a tongue of pebbles into the sea, continuously changing shape due to the waves, wind and sea currents.

We will enjoy lunch at anchor, before cruising to our port for the night at Jelsa, on the island of Hvar. This bustling town was once a significant centre for shipbuilding and trade, and from here the best wines, olive oils and dried fish from Hvar would make their way around Europe. Surrounded by lush and fertile forests and fields, Jelsa is today still one of the best places to try truly fantastic local produce. This evening we head to a winery and organic farm on the UNESCO World Heritage listed Stari Grad Plain. Here we enjoy an included olive oil and wine tasting, so you can truly appreciate what the island of Hvar has to offer.

Back in town, spend a relaxed evening at one of the many excellent restaurants or bars.

Inclusions :

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Wine & olive oil tasting

Jelsa to Hvar Town

Today we sail around the north of the island of Hvar, to our next stop at Hvar Town.

After enjoying a long swim stop at anchor on the Pakleni Islands, a water taxi will pick us up and take us to explore this beautifully well-retained Venetian town. While Jelsa was once the trade hub of the island, Hvar Town was the military stronghold. This afternoon you have the opportunity to visit the medieval Španjola Fortress, which has watched over the town since the 13th century, and enjoy the postcard views of the town and surrounding islands.

Enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail with a view at one of Hvar’s many waterfront bars, and tonight, indulge in some of Croatia’s best nightlife as this buzzing town comes alive.

Inclusions :

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Water taxi to Hvar

Hvar to Korčula

Today we continue south to the island of Korčula, the birthplace of famous explorer Marco Polo. Enjoy a leisurely lunch on board and plenty of time to swim in one of the beautiful bays near to Korčula town.

After an orientation of the Old Town, spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the markets and jewellery stores, or enjoy a coffee by the water with stunning views across to the mountains of the Pelješac peninsula. Korčula is famous for wine, and here is the perfect place to learn a little about some of the famous Croatian grapes over a wine tasting. Finishing the day with a sunset cocktail up high in part of the town’s medieval fortifications is simply stunning.

Inclusions :

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
Mljet National Park

Korčula to Mljet

After a short morning sail, we arrive to anchor off the island of Mljet for the morning ritual of diving into that oh so blue water.

We enjoy lunch on board before heading to the port of Pomena and to the stunning Mljet National Park. Here your entrance to the park is included, and we spend a leisurely afternoon exploring the two salt water lakes surrounded by lush pine forest. You have the option to cycle, kayak, or even head to the small island Monastery of St Mary.

Head to one of the local eateries tonight, and later, toast another sensational sunset from the top deck.

Inclusions :

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Entrance to Mljet National Park
Sipan view of church, Sipan, Croatia

Mljet to Šipan

We depart early today for the Elaphiti Islands, a small archipelago famous for its pristine scenery and secluded beaches. The entire population of the thirteen islands is less than a thousand people, and we head to the largest of these, Šipan, for the evening. Today is a day of complete relaxation, with the option to take the dinghy over to Priježba Beach, one of the only ‘sandy’ beaches in the area.

Tonight you have the option to join in the Captain’s Dinner on board.

Inclusions :

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
Split to Dubrovnik

Šipan to Dubrovnik

This morning we have a short sail, and after our morning swim stop we arrive early to Dubrovnik with plenty of time to explore all that this amazing city has to offer.

The ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’ is not the largest city on the Dalmatian coast, but is certainly the most popular – you will soon see why! The history of this beautiful city is truly impressive, and you will have the option to join a historical walking tour with a local guide. More recently the city has become famous as the setting of King’s Landing in Game of Thrones. For fans of the show, there is also a GoT walking tour available. The best thing to do here is check out the ancient city walls which have stood strong for centuries, and protected the inhabitants from attack. They really are spectacular.

Maybe try some local seafood for dinner at one of the city’s excellent eateries. Tonight is our final night together, and we will party in style at Club Revelin, within the 15th century fortress.

Inclusions :

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Transport to Dubrovnik Old Town
  • Entrance to Club Revelin
