Your Horizon Sail Trip & Covid-19 in Croatia

While we are closely monitoring all updates and changes related to the Covid-19 / Coronavirus outbreak, the near future is still undefined. We promise to do what we can to support our guests and take some of the pressures away during this uncertain time.
Will future Horizon Sail trips run?
As our 2020 season begins in June, a shorter season consciously chosen by Team Horizon to ensure the best of Croatia’s weather for our guests while sailing, we have not yet cancelled any of our sailing trips. If we are forced to make the unprecedented decision to cancel any trip in the future, our guests will be fully informed the moment we are aware ourselves. In such circumstance, we have amended our policies through this difficult time to relieve the pressure from our guests. These will be stated below along with our booking term amendments.
We are immensely hopeful that Horizon sail 2020 season will operate as per normal, eradicating the need to cancel any trips. As you can imagine, we are reviewing this on a week by week basis. In the unfortunate event of the virus affecting travel this late in the year, our guests who have booked to travel with us in June will be the first to hear directly from us with an official update. Although it is extremely uncertain what will happen, we remain hopeful that travel bans will be lifted before then and your trips will sail as normal.
Guests: Our commitment to you.
Our first priority is the safety and wellbeing of our guests and crew and we can assure you that every decision made is in the best interest of you. Our ships accommodate for small groups and give our guests more of a personalised and intimate sailing experience. We tend to avoid spending time around large crowds to apply responsible and sustainable tourism throughout our specially created itineraries; allowing you the chance to experience real Croatia and visiting some carefully picked favourite hidden gems we know you’ll love, as well as some hotspots.
Before each trip, all Horizon Sail ships will be washed, cleaned and disinfected from top to bottom. Each day during the trip, your boat crew will work hard to ensure the cleanliness of your home for the week (this goes without saying in any case, as the captains and their crew see their ships as their pride and joy, so cleaning of their home is a big part of their daily routine!) General important hygiene measures are met each week, including guest’s access to hand sanitizer at all times aboard the ships. Your trip manager and crew will be equipped with more emergency hand sanitizer, disinfectant sprays and disposable paper towels to replenish stock when required. All the latest emergency contact details will be accessible as well as our regular boat safety equipment.
Croatia: What is the current stance with Covid-19?
As of 23rd March 2020, Covid-19 has reached Croatia just like most of the world. Croatia is not in a critical state as it stands; yet global statistics show us we must take the measures advised by health professionals and The World Health Organisation (WHO) to eliminate the spread of this virus. Horizon Sail will remain intact with this advice and do what we can to maintain the safety of our guests, crew and locals.
Later payment terms / rescheduling your trip
We have amended our booking terms and conditions to coincide with the uncertain times we are in. Please see below the changes. Or you can see a full list of our general terms & conditions with these amendments temporarily added here.
With these new terms, it allows our guests the flexibility to delay cancelling your trip until ‘the last minute’ without losing your deposit and instead using it as credit towards another Horizon Sail experience in the future.
It also gives new guests a chance to pay a less deposit as a usual 50% deposit requirement, which can also be used as credit on future Horizon Sail experiences in the case of any cancelled trips.
Please note that the terms and conditions in effect at the time of your new departure date will apply.
